This report attempts to determine the benefits of investments in energy savings and environmental design by comparing Energy Star rated buildings, many of which are LEED certified, with non-Energy Star rated buildings. What this study does, which others largely have not, is examine several examples of each category to generate a broader look at the benefits of energy efficiency. Much of the research available on this subject comes from individual case studies which are too narrow to generalize from.
